A few weeks ago I listened to the audiobook of “Black Beauty” by Anna Sewell while driving in the car to and from Washington. This book is about Black Beauty’s life, which is long and varied. He lives a life of many owners and learns many things along the way.
Anna Sewell does a great job keeping the reader interested by changing the story up several times throughout the book. Black Beauty travels a lot and goes through a lot in his life and that helps keep the book moving along. I also loved the take on animal cruelty this book has. The message was that if you treat a horse well, they will work for you better than if you treat them bad. This book really puts you in a horses position by describing some of the equipment that we (as humans) use on them and how they feel about it. Great read and a great story!
This book is a very easy read for anyone in Middle School on up. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars!
