I know it’s not Friday…but it’s no fun if you don’t switch it up a bit every once in a while! We are going on a small vacation this weekend so I chose to do the swap today instead of Friday! I love this post because yes…the holidays are coming up but that doesn’t mean that Christmas is the only time that you can give a gift to your hubbie! Haylee has some great ideas for every day things that you can ‘gift’ to your husband. And without further ado…here’s Haylee for our blog swap this week:
Hello, Emilio + Chandelle readers! I am excited to have the opportunity to guest post for Chandelle today. She and I were paired via the Chaotic Goddess guest post swap. Chandelle has been a joy to work with, and I want to thank her for allowing me to “take over” for the day. 🙂
My name is Haylee. I blog at Jets and a Brunette, a lifestyle blog that features tidbits of my day to day life as a newlywed Air Force wife.
As a newlywed, I try to find little ways to show love to my husband, Brent. Today, I want to share with you a few cheap or free gifts you can give your husband that are guaranteed to brighten his day.
The gift of words
Since we started dating, Brent and I have exchanged cards on a regular basis. Now that we’re married, I try to keep our tradition of exchanging hand-made notes and cards alive. I use my words to remind him how much I care and how thankful I am for him. My favorite way to give the gift of words is by using a blank card. With a blank card, the cover is decorated and I have plenty of room to write my thoughts in the inside. I’ve found masculine looking blank cards at the dollar store 2/$1.00.
The gift of food
Most nights, I try to use a new recipe from Pinterest to mix up our dinner routine. Usually the meals are a hit, but sometimes they’re a miss. My sweet husband never complains and is willing to try any of my concoctions; however, when I want to make his day, I make his favorite dish, homemade spaghetti.
The gift of choice
How pleased would your husband be if you told him the two of you could see whichever movie he wanted and eat at the restaurant of his choosing? Brent would be ecstatic. Most of the time I plan our date nights and outings, but it always makes him smile when I let him choose what we do, and I don’t complain about it. This can apply to many scenarios, such as what movie to watch on Netflix or what channel to watch on TV.
The gift of positivity
As newlyweds, we’re undergoing a lot of changes in our day-to-day life. Sure, there are days when I’m feeling a bit blue, but I do my best to put forth a positive attitude when I am dealing with my husband. When your husband sees you for the first time after work, imagine the difference in his attitude if you are happy and smiling versus if you are complaining and upset. Your husband wants you to be happy, so seeing you that way will put a smile on his face. (P.S. Sometimes you have to fake it until you make it.)
The gift of favorites
When I’m buying groceries or pumping gas, I often pick up Brent’s favorite soda or candy bar. He is happily surprised when I bring home one of his favorite things. A small gift, such as a soda, will only cost a few dollars, but is guaranteed to bring a smile to his face.
I would like to thank Chandelle again for letting me share on her blog today! If you enjoyed this post, it would be awesome if you hopped over to my corner of the web and said, “Hi!” You can find me on my blog, Twitter, and Pinterest.
