The time is clicking by! 2 more months to go! Here’s an overview of Pregnancy: Month 7. If you’ve missed our Pregnancy Announcement, the First Trimester Overview, Pregnancy: Month 4, Pregnancy: Month 5, or Pregnancy: Month 6 make sure to read them first!
We’re starting to get ready for him to be here! We now have a crib, pack n play, swing, and some more clothes. I’d like to thank everyone that has given us stuff, we really appreciate it! I want to especially thank my mom for helping, we are very grateful and love you very much! Before we even got the crib, Emilio had to start decorating his corner…in superheroes of course! We had a lot of fun creating the collages and putting up the pictures and movie covers for his corner. If this little guy doesn’t like the Avengers I think Emilio is gonna cry!
I did a 10 minute Yoga session on YouTube on Monday. It went well and helped stretch out my back and chest but I felt slightly sick afterwards. Thankfully I felt better after a little bit and it didn’t stick. I also did another 10 minute Yoga session on Wednesday and my legs felt like flubber afterwards! The routine was very simple but had some warrior poses and squats in it which made my legs pretty sore.
We started our childbirth class this week. There are 5 couples taking the class, including us, and we are all different ages and experience levels. We didn’t learn a ton in the first class because we did introductions and just went over things we need to think about but I can’t wait until next week when we get to learn more.
Overall, this week has been ok. It’s starting to hurt sometimes when the baby is kicking but otherwise it’s been a good week. Our little one is moving a TON and I keep saying that Emilio is going to have to stay home with him because I’m not going to run after him all the time if he’s going to be this active! The biggest problem I have is sleeping. No matter what time I get up I can’t go to sleep until about 2-3 in the morning. Even if I am REALLY tired I will still toss and turn and jerk in bed for a good hour or two before finally falling asleep. Most of it has to do with leg pain that creeps up on me at night.
Unfortunately this week did not start out that great. Monday morning my eyes were swollen slightly and I was really tired, despite sleeping in until 11 o’clock. I took several naps through the day and tried to relax (which helped the swelling in my eyes recede) and then I cleaned up the house a little bit. By that night my feet were slightly swollen and some of my fingers were swollen as well. Tuesday morning I woke up with a bright red welt on my finger and had a slight headache as well.
The childbirth class Tuesday went well. We mainly talked about the stages of labor. We also did another relaxation technique while listening to rain on a tin roof. Unfortunately, I don’t think this is something I should do to relax. The sound of rain was distracting and I did not relax as well as I did last week.
The rest of the week was tough, but I got through it! Every morning I woke up with some kind of swelling except for this morning (Sunday).
Last night I got really sick after eating clam strips and tator tots at a local restaurant. We tried to go to a birthday party afterwards and I made it about a half hour before I was demanding to go home. Thankfully I didn’t throw up but I definitely felt like I was going to!
The beginning of this week went pretty well. We did candy machines and then had the childbirth class on Tuesday night. This week we learned about pain medications and epidurals. We also learned how to breathe like you see in the movies and so forth…the ‘hee, hee, hoo’ breathing.
Tuesday night my left hand swelled really bad. I took some Tylenol and another Zyrtec when I got home and after Emilio massaged my hand the swelling started to actually go away.
The rest of the week went ok. Thursday I had a sore throat and had to go take the 1-hour glucose test. I won’t get the results until next week at my appointment so I hope everything is fine.
This third trimester has hit me like a rock! If I’m sitting I tend to feel ok but the second I stand up I’ve got to run to the bathroom to release my bladder. Also, if I’ve been sitting for a while and then stand up, my belly feels very heavy. The top of my belly is starting to hurt from the weight of this little guy!
Friday night this baby started kicking differently. Up until now he has always kicked quickly…but Friday night it felt like he was stretching inside my belly. He would kick and hold it for several seconds and then release. This is definitely a different sensation and it’s less painful than the quick kicks that he normally does.
Yet again, I feel as though I’m getting sick. Yesterday my throat hurt, my nose was half plugged, I got a headache in the afternoon, and I kept sneezing many times throughout the day. Today I woke up with a headache and my nose is slightly stuffy. I had to take some Mountain Dew & Tylenol to make my headache tolerable. (This combo works better for me than Exedrin…so if you have headaches or migraines often, give it a try!) I also took a shower and put about 10 drops of Respiratory Blend essential oil on the floor of the shower. This has also helped a little bit, but I am still not feeling very well.
The nurse called me Monday morning and said that I passed my glucose test! This is very exciting because it means I don’t have gestational diabetes and I don’t need to go in for the 3-hour glucose test. I still felt like I was getting sick and I got a cold sore on Tuesday. Anytime I get a cold or even try to fight a cold I get a cold sore…not fun!
Tuesday’s childbirth class was good. We went over different positions we can use during labor to help the pain and discomfort of contractions. My two favorite were laying on the ball with my knees on the ground and sitting on the ball. Most of the others felt a little uncomfortable but the instructor said we may get tired of one within a couple hours and need to move on. She also said it may not be comfortable now but it may be just what we need during labor.
The rest of this week has been hectic…to say the least. We’ve got a lot of things to do and it seems like either I’m not feeling good enough to do them or Emilio has to work…so we haven’t gotten much done that we need to.
Any mothers that are reading this know that there are many frustrations that come with being pregnant. I can honestly say one of my biggest problems has been my ankles…but not in the way you probably are thinking. My ankles hurt often. They have since I was in high school and grew the muscles in them by doing ballet, jazz, and ballroom dancing. Now that I’m pregnant, that pain has gotten worse. They hurt almost every night and unfortunately that’s the one place that you aren’t supposed to really massage because it could give you blood clots…not cool! I’ve tried doing the ABCs, popping my ankles, and even stretching them and nothing takes the pain away for very long. Sometimes it even makes the pain worse! It sucks! I wish there was a way to take the pain away easily…maybe (hopefully) I’ll figure something out before the baby gets here (even though I shouldn’t need it as much then).
